Where it all started
Looking at the full moon today, a childhood memory flashed in front of my eyes.
I remember myself standing with my mom and dad on the porch. It was Kojagiri Pournima, my mom was doing pooja and my dad was looking at the bright full moon, while I was completely concentrating on the milk. Realizing this, mom asked me," Do you know why we celebrate Kojagiri Pournima?" to which I nodded my head, so she started telling me the reason behind this celebration, but that fact failed to amaze me and I was still concentrating on the milk. After a few seconds, looking at the moon, my dad said "The moon is so beautiful, how amazing are the astronauts who had visited this celestial body!" now, this was something which fascinated me, I immediately shifted my focus to dad and asked him ,"is Moon a place?" because as a child I only knew moon as Chando Mama or some round object in the sky, dad smiled and answered my question, he told me about Neil Armstrong. He also told me about Kalpana Chawla and other astronauts. After listening that I told my parents that when I grew up, I will become an astronaut. This was the first time I decided to be something in my life, this was the moment WHERE IT ALL STARTED and like many others, I became a child, who's very first dream was to visit the moon.
I may not think of becoming an astronaut now, but fascination towards the moon continues.
